Samsung Released Firmware Update For Galaxy S Duos

by Pankaj Biswas on November 8, 2012

Today morning when I unlocked my mobile software update notification was popped. I thought this might be Jelly Bean Upgrade! Not really but it’s a firmware update. Nothing special described about the update, they asked

this upgrade is to improve phone’s stability

. That’s all.

How to update Samsung Galaxy S Duos’ (GT S7562) Firmware?

Make sure that your phone’s battery is fully charged. You can update through WI-FI or 3G whatever. I have used my mobile’s 3G internet. To start the update process, navigate to settings -> About Device -> Software Update. If you wish to use 3G data then untick the WI-FI option and click check for update. It will notify you about the update, proceed with the download: total file size is 16.97MB. Once downloaded, your phone will reboot in “BOOT” mode and install the software by itself. Don’t remove the battery or sd card during the installation, that may brick your phone. Once update is complete your phone will reboot again and start in normal mode.

Your personal data, call logs, messages everything will intact and the whole process gonna take 10~15 mins depending on download speed.

hi pankaj,
i am naveen.. i have installed the custom os in my s duos to root my phone.. presently i am using it without any problem but i cannot install the software update in my phone, though it is available.. plz help..

Hi Naveen,
Rooting or installing custom OS voids warranty and Samsung (or vendor’s) support. So you will be not allowed to install update from official site/server. If you want the update then you need to revert back to original OS (If you have a backup) first.

Hi Pankaj,
I have followed the instructions on your website previously and had took the backup of the OS after installing the custom OS which means now I have only the backup of the custom OS, not original one. Could you tell me from where I can get the original OS for free? Also please post the OS if you have in extra.

Hi Naveen,
Means you have followed the “How to root samsung galaxy s duos” this article right? If you have taken a backup using CWM after flashing PDA using ODIN then you have the original OS backup with custom PDA. So just restore that backup and then flash using the “stock_recovery.tar” file. If your backup is perfect then it will restore Samsung’s default OS and “stock_recovery.tar” will remove CWM. Let me know if you need anything else? :)
